Catching and Collecting Forest
This space transforms visitors into digital explorers. Using a dedicated smartphone app, Karlye and Rylie became part of a digital “Catch, Study, Release” game. They spotted animated creatures in the space, some of which scurried away when touched while others turned to face them. Through the app’s “Research Eye” or a Research Net, they captured these creatures into a virtual collection book. With each catch, they learned fascinating details about the animals and even released them back into the digital forest, sparking both curiosity and delight.
Athletics Forest
This zone invites physical play in a surreal, spatially immersive environment. Karlye and Rylie loved the Rapidly Rotating Bouncing Spheres in the “Caterpillar House,” where huge colorful balls were suspended like trampolines. As they leapt across them, the balls reacted by slowing when approached, popping into light particles, or transforming into caterpillars when they jumped repeatedly on matching colors. It was a joy to watch and even more fun to experience.
They also explored the Balance Stepping Stones where every step triggered changing lights and sounds. These playful, sensory-rich pathways encouraged them to dance and tiptoe across, completely immersed in a world that felt dreamlike and alive.
Interactive Drawings and Graffiti Nature
One of the most magical areas for the kids was the Graffiti Nature space. They colored creatures on provided paper, scanned their artwork, and watched in amazement as their drawings came to life within a shifting valley of digital flora and fauna. Their creations moved among other visitors’ art within a shared ecosystem where drawn creatures multiplied, got eaten, or disappeared, reacting dynamically to the environment.
Overall Experience
For Karlye and Rylie, TeamLab Forest Fukuoka was a playground of radiant color, movement, and imagination. They bounced through light and sound, played digital “catch,” and saw their own artwork spring to life. The blend of physical activity, hands-on art, and immersive projection made every moment feel like stepping into a living dream.
Families will find this exhibit a joy, whether you are chasing glowing spheres, hunting digital creatures, or watching your drawings animate across the walls. It is a beautiful invitation to learn, move, and fully experience a world that blends art with motion and imagination.
